It is healthy at an optimal level, but at an excess level can be harmful to the body.
The stress response is the body’s way of protecting you.

Types of Stress
The optimal level of stress is healthy for the functioning of the body.
It helps you to stay focused and concentrated.
It increases your potential and improves your performance at work.
Our body knows how to handle the optimal level of stress.
For example, you get a promotion, and your responsibilities increase, so to complete the work deadline, you get a bit stressed that is referred to as EUSTRESS.
When the stress becomes negative for the body and it exceeds the optimal level for the body it is called DISTRESS
In this situation, a person faces challenges without relaxation, and the level of stress increases.
As a result, it causes symptoms like headaches, chest pain, sweating, etc.
How to reduce Stress
AVOID CAFFEINE, ALCOHOL, AND NICOTINE :
If you cannot avoid the consumption of Caffeine, Alcohol, and Nicotine try and reduce your consumption at least.
Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants rather than minimizing the effect of stress, they will increase it.
Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, but acts as a stimulant in smaller quantities.
Hence using alcohol as a way to reduce stress is not ultimately helpful.
Physical exercise can be used as a tool .to metabolize the excessive stress hormones and restore your body and mind to a calmer, more relaxed state.
Whenever you feel stressed, go out in the fresh air and take a brisk walk, or just work out a bit.
It will calm your body and mind and will help you feel fresh.
Working out on a regular base improves your sleep pattern and also improves your health.
Lack of Sleep
An adequate amount of sleep is very essential to curb it. However, it can be the main reason why we do not get adequate sleep.
Due to continuous negative thoughts that give rise to it prevents us from sleeping on time.
For that try to keep your mind as relaxed as possible before you go to sleep.
Avoid consumption of caffeine and alcohol before you go to sleep and also avoid mentally demanding work which can arouse tension.
Talk to Someone
Usually talking to someone can help a lot to reduce it.
It helps you distract your mind and will help you relax for a bit.
Talking to someone a lot of times can help you find a solution to your problems.
Keep a stress diary
A lot of times when you cannot express your feeling to someone, it gives arousal to stress.
Keeping a stress diary is a management tool as it helps you to become more aware of your situations.
A lot of times when you write about your problems and read it again, you can find the solutions to your problems.
Note down the date, time and place of each stressful episode, and note what you were doing, who you were with, and how you felt both physically and emotionally, this will help you understand your situation better.
