How Do I stay Motivated?

The key to Staying Motivated lies in conquering your demons with Will Power and Perseverance.

You have to fight these demons inside you daily. We see people around ourselves with a complete superficial facade. As what they are on their inner side is something they only know the best.

Somebody might be fighting dark voices inside and still display their confident self. While others may lack the courage to do so.

So what differentiates both of them?

The Willpower to counter-attack those voices which discourages them and repress apathy, doubt, or fear.

According to Psychology, people who have more self-control can regulate their emotions well and achieve long term goals with staying motivated.

Hence to achieve this willpower, first identify your little devils, your dark places, your triggers, your fear, your relapses which give strength to overpower you, and put you down.

Formulate a strategy to overcome these setbacks in your life. If you fear public speaking and failed at it once. As a result you will hear constant pestering from inside like:

Public Speaking is not for you. You are gonna fail again. Don’t try it. You are gonna embarrass yourself again. Just give up already.

How you fight it? By acknowledging it, by befriending it. Accept your flaws and work on it rather than being ignorant and blaming yourself or others for your failure.

The one who treats success and failure with equal eye and equanimity is the one with supreme power, glory and happiness. This person would always be motivated by himself rather than being dependent on a temporary distraction or someone who misguides and manipulates his true capabilities.

Out of pure acceptance, comes greater knowledge. We can not discover the best in ourselves without accepting the worst.

So what are the tricks to keep yourself motivated?

If you are looking for tricks to be motivated, it simply indicates your concentration and retention power to contribute to your work or passion is less. You can follow these to continue the encouragement from inside:

  1. Meditate for 5 ,10, 15, 20 ,30 minutes. Know your concentration time. Do not break the routine. As days will increase so will your focus and you will eventually get motivation from within.
  2. If you get distracted easily. Simply think about what is that you like to indulge in more. Is it Netflix or Video Game? Tempt yourself with watching a new episode after you accomplish your daily goals. This will keep you motivated to complete your work.
  3. If you are deeply demotivated, then the time is to know the triggers for it. Just know your shortcomings and accept that it is okay to fail in life once. But remember, the one who conquers after the failure, achieves the greatest bliss. Just jot down the factors which demotivate you and work on it daily.
  4. Stop comparing your life to others. There are 7+ billion people in this world and wasting your time in becoming some random person will make you lose yourself. Just introspect and know what you want. Do you want to look up to others or want others to look up to you?
  5. Identify the source of negativity. Mostly they are the people who usually start and end their conversation with “No” and “Me”. Time to stay away from them.
  6. Don’t try too hard to prove your worth. Relax and let life take its course.
